CADS has been running for around 35 consecutive years and being part of CADS is like having an extended family that sometimes you don’t see for a while but when you meet up it’s as if they have never left as you have so much in common.
People from all walks of life have been part of our group, some lifelong friends who live here, others that have moved on, but we still hear keep in contact from time to time – I think once theatre gets in your blood it just flows there, no matter where life takes you. It’s not all about being on stage, there is a place for every interest- lights- sound – costumes – catering – makeup, front of house and sourcing props to name a few.
Theatre is fun as well as very hard work – Even though we are an Amateur Society that just makes us strive for perfection, and our reputation shows we are doing something right.
From small beginnings and with wonderful support from our community and now a much larger audience base, we have built up to being able to put on shows with budgets of up to $10,000.
We give to schools across the Upper Lachlan for their end of year presentations - in Drama and Music awards. We have contributed to Harley, Banfield House and Viewhaven, while they were being established and we support the schools with expertise and any costumes, props and lighting we can.
As well we added KAOS – Kids Acting on Stage to the society, catering to children from Years One to High School. This has also proven successful as we watch these children’s confidence grow.

Many lifelong friendships have been created over the years. It is amazing how many people have been part of the “CADS Family.”
Acting, singing or dancing on stage may not be your interest. There are many other ways behind the scenes to become involved. You may prefer lights-sound-costumes-makeup-front of house-catering-and sourcing props to name a few.
